Crack Theatre Festival is a national festival and forum devoted to experimental, fringe, cross-artform theatre and performance. It’s a launching pad for emerging artists who wish to journey into the festival scene. Crack provides a platform for artists working in new, experimental and fringe areas of performance to showcase their work, to share skills and to invigorate their practice at the nation’s largest artistic party.

This year, we are headed up by:
Ben Packer
Ben Packer runs the independent theatre company ‘little death productions’. Most recently, he directed Strangers in Between by Tommy Murphy (Store Room, 2009), Motortown by Simon Stephens (Griffin Stablemates, 2008) and Mercury Fur by Philip Ridley (Theatreworks & Griffin Stablemates, 2007).
Jane Grimley
Jane Grimley makes work across theatre and performance. She is well into site specific performance, experimental theatre and interactive events. Her recent exploits include directing The Hideous Demise of Detective Slate, making a performance in a football stadium and romping about in Faster Lady Godiva Faster!
Gareth Hart
Gareth Hart has created independent performance work for over ten years now, and still thinks it’s pretty nifty. Primarily a choreographer, Gareth’s practice involves the exploration of improvisation as both a generative and performative tool. With experience in dance, theatre and photography, Gareth is definitely addicted to anything artistic. www.garethhart.net
