Crack Festival is inviting artists to think big on a small budget – we want works that are no/low-tech, adaptable, and focused on the core of their ideas. Come test something new – sow a seed, scratch the surface, fan the flame from rage to stage.
We’re keen to see some site-specific works, so think about spaces in Newcastle you’d like to activate; or works that could exist happily as part of an evening of performances with a warehouse-party vibe.
We encourage works receptive to natural and superimposed landscapes; architecture, movement, places of gathering and cultural mapping, collective identities, spaces abandoned and rebranded, institutions and integrated creative technologies.
Any and all artforms will be considered – individuals, interdisciplinary artists and collectives are encouraged to apply.
Newcastle-based Artists, or Artists with a connection to Newcastle are strongly encouraged to apply!
Are a string of vignettes unfurling behind your eyes? If you’ve got one image (all it takes is one image) and are unsure how to proceed, get in touch. All you need to pitch is the beginning of an idea – Crack is a chance to push it out of your head and give it a first showing. We’re not expecting fully professional and polished works making a stop on their world tour; we’re looking for raw and wild, the first experiment before the world tour begins.
