Ang Collins

Ang is an emerging playwright originally from Newcastle, NSW. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Languages) at the University of Sydney in 2016, and graduated her Master of Fine Arts (Writing for Performance) at NIDA at the start of 2018.

She was a participant at Australian Theatre for Young People’s National Studio at Bundanon Trust in 2016 – her short piece Blueberry Girl Grows Up was subsequently featured in ATYP’s Intersection in February 2017 as a result of the Studio. This piece subsequently grew into Blueberry Play, which was shortlisted for the 2017 Griffin Award and received its premiere production as part of Griffin’s inaugural Batch Festival in April 2018 (dir. Sheridan Harbridge).

Ang was a participant in Bondi Feast’s ten minute play event 24 Hour Party Playwright in 2017, and returned to Bondi Feast in 2018 with You’ve Got Mail (dir. Sarah Hadley) as playwright and MARS: An Interplanetary Cabaret (dir. Andrew McInnes) as dramaturg and lyricist. Her play MATE was awarded Highly Commended in PWA’s biennial Max Afford Award for 2018.
