Having started her musical journey at 4 years of age with a disastrous Hot Cross Buns on the recorder, Kristie has since then been drawn into the world of music and performance. She is currently a second year saxophonist, studying a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.

Kristie’s decade of dance experience and past work on media projects have sparked a fascination in exploring the role of sound in visual storytelling and experimenting with multi-media performance spaces. In 2018, she was awarded a Community Teaching Artist internship, allowing her to expose younger children to storytelling through nonorthodox music methods. She also had the invaluable experience of participating in the Young Artist Program at the 2019 Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy. Here, she collaborated with international artists to explore the relationship between sound and the space that it occupies, using the saxophone and movement to draw the audience into a soundscape and sensory performance experience.

Kristie hopes to delve into this collision of the contemporary and traditional, subverting expectations of traditional saxophone sounds and concert going experiences for the audience. She cannot wait to continue exploring a fusion between the visual and aural art space and examine more intricate ways to construct a narrative through movement and sound.
