Critical Animals Artist Call Out due 7 July

Critical Animals Artist Call Out due 7 July

This year the Critical Animals Creative Research Symposium will be presented as part of the TiNA (This is Not Art) festival in Newcastle, NSW from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 October 2019.

We are now calling for proposals for our 2019 festival! We invite anyone whose practice experiments within the experience and interpretation of ‘critical research’. We love programming creative responses of all shapes and sizes and have a flexible definition of research that encompasses creative, experimental, interrogative, discursive, and practice-led approaches. Remember, Critical Animals is about igniting and expanding conversations, so don’t be afraid to pitch your original and unorthodox ideas.

In the past, Critical Animals has held panels, workshops, PhD presentations, installations, roving performances, live art, poetry readings, film screenings + more. Apply with an event in mind, or as an individual to be programmed into another event such as a panel or reading.

Critical Animals is all about exploring curious and uncharted niches in contemporary art and critical thought. We are very open to various and innovative critical and creative expressions. TiNAis produced in partnership with the National Young Writers Festival, Crack Theatre and the Critical Animals Symposium. Unsure under which festival your idea fits? Get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.

Download the Call for Proposals info pack (make sure to read it carefully) and start writing! Submit proposals and ideas via our Proposal Form by midnight Sunday 7 July 2019. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions at criticalanimals@gmail.com. We highly encourage you to circulate this call out to your networks and creative hubs.

We look forward to hearing from you and reading your exciting applications soon!
